An ancient sandstone fortress dating from the 14th Century, Ethie is reputed to be Scotland’s second oldest permanently inhabited castle. It was immortalized by Sir Walter Scott as ‘Knockwinnoch’ in his novel ‘The Antiquary’. These days, Ethie is a haven of hospitality and peace, and guests can relax in the splendour of the castle.
